A bit more about me 💡

I'm originally from Iceland, but I've been living in Copenhagen since 2017. I'm a builder-first engineering leader with 7+ years of hands-on experience shipping impactful products and leading teams. I'm passionate about turning data into product insight, scaling systems, and driving strategy from zero to one.

Currently, I'm an Engineering Manager & Data Strategist at Famly, a Copenhagen-based startup creating the early childhood platform. I lead engineering for the Growth department, partnering with our VP of Growth to establish product-market fit in new markets. I also drive AI adoption across the company and modernize our data infrastructure.

My journey at Famly has been quite the ride - starting as a frontend engineer and gradually taking on more responsibility. I've had the opportunity to:

  • Launch Nurture, an Airbnb-style marketplace for nurseries, from concept to production
  • Co-found the Growth team and drive the shift from sales-led to product-led growth
  • Modernize our data infrastructure with dbt and ELT pipelines
  • Lead company-wide AI initiatives for code generation and documentation
  • Build and mentor engineering teams from scratch

Before Famly, I worked as a software developer at Precis Digital, a Scandinavian Digital Marketing agency. There, I built internal optimization tools operating on large datasets and collaborated closely with the data science team. It was a great place to learn about digital marketing and meet inspiring people who shaped my career.

I have a BSc in Software Engineering from the University of Iceland, and a MSc in Computer Science with focus on algorithms and NLP from the IT University of Copenhagen. At ITU, I wrote my master's thesis on Multilingual Hate Speech Detection and co-authored a paper on the topic. Our work was even featured in a Politiken articleabout detecting hate speech on Facebook.

These days, I'm particularly excited about product-led growth, data-driven decision making, and the intersection of AI and software development. I'm a technology enthusiast at heart and enjoy exploring new tools and approaches that can help teams build better products.
